RACING
Harlow Cycling Club is putting more focus into racing in 2022
The club suggests that TT (Time Trialling) is a good first step into racing as it has a low a barrier to entry and doesn't require racing in a bunch, it's just you against the clock.
Hopefully more Crit (Circuit) Racing will be available in 2023. There should be TLI, BMCR and British Cycling races at Redbridge Cycle Centre, Colchester Northern Gateway and (hopefully) Dunton Ford, as well as other circuits further afield. Links below to race organisations.
Members also race Cyclocross, MTB and Track events so there is something for everyone.
Tuesday nights training rides have seen the introduction of a drop policy to encourage riders to step up and take on the challenge of riding in a chain gang and working as a team, with great success and attendance this is a perfect way to get the taste for speed.
We have also introduced staggered start training around our ‘Left left left’ local segment which is true test for any level of rider looking for that real workout and a great intro into pacing and riding against the clock.
With more events like this in the pipeline as well, we have massive hope for this type of riding for the club in 2023 and beyond. If you would like to take part or for more information please contact us by email on: rides@harlowcc.club or ask a member who races, they are always happy to help.
